Novel—The Taste of Fruit Not Eaten
In fiction, the extraordinary is within grasp, and my intention as a creative person is to seize it. Why limit our experience to the world as we see it when so much more is possible? The Taste of Fruit Not Eaten is my most developed imaginative expression to that end and more. It’s forthcoming from Running Wild Press, and I’d be delighted if you check it out.
Technical communication
My aim as a technical writer is to enable people to achieve tangible goals that are important to them.
People rarely read a piece of technical writing for fun, but when they complete a pressing task thanks to it, they see immediate, material gain. I want to give people that experience and, by doing so, drop a little positivity into the world.

My background
For those interested in more about me, here are a few tidbits:
Personal
- I was born in New Orleans and graduated from high school there. As my family also moved around a fair amount during that span of time, migration played a significant role in my early life.
- As an adult, I lived in San Francisco for over two decades, and I currently live in the Washington, D.C. area. I treasure experiences from every place I’ve lived.
- I grew up reading—books, newspapers, anything. Inspired, I tried out writing and relished how text made observable artifacts of my mind’s workings. I was hooked. Text assumed a role as engine in my life, and it has propelled me over the long haul.
Professional
- My educational grounding is broad:
- In-depth study spanned international relations, economics, finance, foreign languages (French, Spanish, Japanese), literature, semiotics and other text-focused theory, creative writing, and pedagogy.
- My curiousity took me into additional areas like the visual arts and math as well.
- I taught college writing and literature early in my career.
- I pivoted into work as a content specialist, editor, and manager within an instructional design/development team. In one way or another technical writing has factored into that work throughout and has only grown as an interest over time.
